Psalm 18

"As for God, his way is perfect:
    The Lord’s word is flawless;
    he shields all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the Lord?
    And who is the Rock except our God?
It is God who arms me with strength
    and keeps my way secure.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
    he causes me to stand on the heights.
He trains my hands for battle;
    my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
You make your saving help my shield,
    and your right hand sustains me;
    your help has made me great.
You provide a broad path for my feet,
    so that my ankles do not give way."

Ice Storm

Well winter has officially arrived in the South! Cold weather and ice, the perfect excuse for curling up on the couch with a good book (which of course I did today). I may be the only one in the area enjoying the cold weather and wishing that we had gotten some snow instead of just ice. :)

P.S. Can you believe that there are two posts in three days?!?!?

Welcome 2018

Well it is official, 2018 has arrived! I guess that means whatever happened in 2017 is so last year. :) To be honest, I have no clue where the last year went. Each month I keep finding myself asking, "where has the time gone?". That must mean I'm officially old, I think. :) Looking back on the past year (this is what people do around New Year's, right?), it been a good one with many fun adventures. Here are some of the highlights...

1) Went to the Kennedy Space Center for the first time. It was a really fun time seeing all of the spacecrafts, but I have to admit one of my favorite memories from that time was seeing all the alligators.

I'm a space shuttle pilot!

There is nobody like my sister.

2) Enjoyed visits from my family.
Enjoying some great southern BBQ!

Ahoy, maties!

Did some go-kart racing!

The new generation of F1 drivers. :)
3) I went through, YET ANOTHER, hurricane evacuation. This time I ended going to Chattanooga, TN for 13 days. It was definitely a tiring, entertaining, grand adventure starting with a 13hr drive that normally takes 6hrs in van with only me and lots of animals in the middle of a 7 vehicle carpool. Sounds like fun, right?

Hurrication buddies: this is how we felt for being on our second hurricane evacuation together.

It wasn't all work, there was time for some fun as well.

4) Had a couple trips home to Iowa to visit family during the summer and at Thanksgiving.
Lots of kayaking adventures while home.

Gone fishin'

Eagerly awaiting the Christmas parade.

Sisters, they make the world go around.

Ice skating extravaganza!

5) Made it out to Arizona to visit my brother and sister in-law. Got to do some hiking, visit the Biosphere, and to tour the Titan Missile Museum to name a few things.
Beautiful Arizona sunset

This is the view from my brother's deck.

Hi! My name's Jack!

I turned the key (which is the final step of launching a Titan nuclear missile).

The last remaining Titan missile (it is completely inactive).
6)  Added another NFL stadium to my list...the new Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. My sister and I got to watch the opening game there: Packers vs. Falcons. Unfortunately, the Packers lost. :( :( :( :( It was still a really awesome experience though. There was even an actual Mercedes F1 race car hanging in the stadium!!!!!!!

Are you ready for some football?!?!?!?

I was super pumped!!!!

Lewis Hamilton's driving suit

An actual F1 car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is quite the sight.

7) Saw Chase Rice in concert for the third time. :) It was another great show and we were right next to the stage!!!! And my sister even got his autograph!
Ready, set, let's roll!!!

Chase Rice's autograph!!!!
8) I completed way more cross-stitches than should be allowed.
My latest cross-stitch that I finished right before the new year. Those really are my life's mottos!

Those are just a few of the highlights. Hope you enjoyed a photo blitz of my 2017.
