Return of the Klutz

My life has become like the old Pink Panther movies (The Pink Panther, Return of the Pink Panther, Pink Panther Strikes Again) or at least that is what I immediately thought of when I read the title for this post. Plus, I sometimes can act like Inspector Clouseau. :D

Anyways, this morning was like any other typical morning for me. I woke up, showered, got ready, got myself some breakfast, and was going to check stories on my computer. However, from there my day decided to deviate. In the middle of eating cereal, I turn on ESPN to see who won the football game last night (It was the Falcons, if anyone cares). I realized the team I had picked to win, did indeed win, so of course, I had to go star the game on my schedule (Yes, I have a schedule of every football game for the season and I pick who I think (or hope) is going to win the game). In the process of trying to do that, it suddenly was Return of the Klutz. My elbow grew a mind of its own and BAM my bowl of cereal crashed to the floor, spraying milk all over my pant leg, chair, folder, desk, and floor. Then there I am walking to the kitchen with milk dripping from my pants to get paper towels. I feel like I should have been in an old Southwest commercial, "Want to get away? Now you can."

Stay tuned for Klutz Strikes Again. Coming out in Spring 2013...

Habakkuk

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."

"Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of Your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy."

Word of the Day

Today while doing some school I had to look up a couple words on dictionary.com that I didn't know. While doing that, I found this really, really cool word. I then voted to make it the word of the day (maybe even the year). :)

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobiafear of long words

Awesome word, right? I think I have hippopotmonstrosesquippedaliaphobia. lol. Now try saying that three times fast: hippopotmonstrosesquippedaliaphobia, hippopotmonstrosesquippedaliaphobia, hippopotmonstrosesquippedaliaphobia. Well, that was fun. :D

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey y'all, how's it going? I just sat through a 4.5 earthquake, anything new with you? Yep, you heard me right. Lake Arrowhead, ME, which lies about 17 miles from the university was the epicenter of the quake.

Natalie and I were sitting in our room buying our plane tickets home for Christmas break. Suddenly, the room starting shaking and it sounded like a bunch of people running around upstairs. Now this could be normal since we do live in a college dorm where kids run around all the time. However, we live on the fourth floor of a four story building. Thus the sounds were not normal. Natalie and I looked at each other and said, "Earthquake" quite matter a factly. Then we got really excited and high-fived each other. lol Then of course we had to let the rest of the family know the awesomeness. :D

Well, that's all I really wanted to say. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Attack of the Animals....

I know, you know that I love conspiracy theories (did some of you think I was going to break into the Psych theme song?...I know, you know, that I'm not telling the truth...sorry I couldn't resist ). Anyways, back to my love of conspiracy theories, well y'all will be glad to know that I have another....ATTACK OF THE ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, animals are trying to take over the world by attacking humans. Or maybe they are just trying to attack me. Either way, it's attack of the animals.

Squirrels are the first animal that have started this revolution. Every time I walk the paths of my campus, squirrels start throwing acorns at me (or maybe it's the wind :D). Truly, I have to walk the paths dodging back and forth trying to avoid being hit by falling acorns.

Next, I have to dodge chipmunks when I walk around campus. These guys don't throw acorns at me like the squirrels, but they do try to trip me up. Suddenly, with no warning, a chipmunk will run across the path right in front of me trying to make me stumble (or they are suicidal chipmunks trying to get me to kill them).

The third animal that has attacked me was a deer. Tuesday, I was walking up to the new athletic complex. On the way, a deer almost ran me over!!!!!!! Missed it by that much. Luckily, I have fast reflexes and juked out of the way (or maybe not, it wasn't THAT close). Then the deer went into the woods and examined me for a little while. Apparently, I'm not a threat because it then ran away.

Last but not least, I was almost killed by a seagull. Natalie and I were walking back from dinner. I was busy talking with Natalie. Then suddenly Natalie put her arm out and stopped me from walking in further. Her reason, there was a seagull flying fast and at low attitude right into our pathway. If it wasn't for Natalie, I might have been impaled by a seagull.

Thus ends ATTACK OF THE ANIMALS

Hey Y'all

Yep, it's me the amazing and astounding Ally!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure y'all have missed by witty and deep posts. Or not.

Anyways, I'm am now back in Maine at college. Classes start last week with only a three day week. Then we had a three day weekend because of Labor Day, which means this is only a four day week. Sounds exhausting, right? :D So far, classes have been going good and I have been enjoying them. This semester I'm only taking four classes, but I also have three labs so I'll stay busy. My classes are Organic Chemistry w/lab, Orginismal Genetics w/lab, Biology of Marine Mammals w/lab, and Lifespan Development.

I'm also staying busy being the secretary of MARC Education (where part of my responsibility is giving tours of the MARC) and working Sunday morning at MARC. I had my first shift this past Sunday. It was soooooo great to be back with my seal pals. Most of the seals I worked with this summer have been released so I was with new seals. However, it was still lots of fun!!! The seals are now weanlings who are very snappy, which can be amusing (though we always have to be careful working with them since they are wild animals).

Well, I'm going to go now because football coverage is on 'cause football season is back. WHOHOO!!! So before I sign of there is only one thing left to say: ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Gateway to the West

Sunday (July 22nd) was out last day of partying. :( However, we still made sure to have lots of fun. Our destination today was downtown St. Louis to see the famous Arch, or Gateway to the West as it is sometimes known as.

The day before we bought our tickets for going up to the top of the Arch at 9:20 in the morning. We all got up early and made our way to the Arch where we picked up our tickets, browsed the gift store, and wondered through a cool museum. The museum had things all about Lewis and Cark’s journey. It was fun to see quotes from them and pictures of the areas the visited. It also was awesome to see the places that they visited that we had been to. Of course, one of them is where Nathan and Natalie were born and another about and hour from where we grew up. After the museum we waited around a little bit then were able to be let through for our tour. After waiting around a little more our transportation arrived. Guess what it was. A bird? A plane? Superman?…nope just this little white capsule thingy that fits five people. It is not that big and has a tiny door to go through. lol. Soon enough we were up, up, and away. The cool thing is that the capsule has a glass door, so we could see the shaft. The view was basically stairs and cement. :D

Once the capsule reached the top we climb our through the tiny door and were met with people lining the stairs to head back down. We then have to climb some stairs, then you are in the hallway of the arch. on each side there are windows that you can look through. It was really cool seeing the view. Natalie even had a great idea of watching a baseball game from up there because there is a perfect view of the stadium. :D We hung out up there for while peering out different windows and taking it all in. Then we made our way to the other side and caught a ride down.

After the Arch we grabbed a bite to eat, then headed back to Nathan’s place, packed up, and headed out. We made it home safely where we all crashed from the five days of partying. Thus ends the Great Adventure of Dad’s 60th Birthday!

Zootastic

Despite the fact that it was no longer Dad’s birthday, we kept up the party on Saturday (July 21st) by going to the St. Louis Zoo. It is a really cool zoo. The paths are surrounded by flowers and plants and animals exhibits, obviously. We spent three hours wondering the zoo looking at lions and tigers and bears. Oh. My. :D My favorite exhibits were the penguins, the lions, and the sea lions/seals. The penguins were awesome because you walk into this building where you are right next to the penguins. If you wanted you could pet them (though you aren’t suppose to and you would probably ended being bit). Zach and I were even splashed my a penguin. lol. The lion exhibit was really cool because the female lion was IN THE TREE!!!! I was so awesome! I like the sea lion/seal exhibit, well, because I just plain love those guys!!!!!!!!!!…Oh, and another really fun part was the chimps. There were two chimps that were playing follow the leader. They both were holding straw and then would walk in perfect unison. SO AMUSING!!!! Want to see it. Here are some pictures…..

ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope ya’ll enjoyed those pictures. After the zoo, we went shopping for a little bit. Then backs to Nathan’s place to chillax. That evening Mom, Dad, and Natalie went out to eat and shop a little more. Nathan, Zach, and I went to go see the Batman movie. It is a good movie and had a classic ending: a fiery plane crash over Pittsburgh into a village of dwarfs. Just kidding (sort of). lol. Thus ends the fun fourth day of partying!

P.S. There are a few flower pictures from the zoo on Photoblog.
