European Adventure - Day 4

We kicked off day 4 by waking up early to catch a train again (that was a common theme for the trip). This time we were on our way to Nice, France. Once there, we made our way to the AirBnB to drop the bags and then off we went for some sustenance. And of course, when in France you must eat...wait for it...Portuguese! Yep, that was the restaurant that got people's interest, so it is what we had...Then us intrepid travelers journeyed to the rocky beaches of the Mediterranean.
Heading towards the beach

Surfs up, dude!
So the sea was calmer than...well, I can't think of a good comparison...it was as flat as a paper under a stack of books (does that even make sense?!?!?!? I'm not sure, but we are going to leave it. Just go with it...). Anyways, the point I was trying to make was that there were actually no waves or surf to catch, but the water did feel SUPER refreshing and wonderful. Others thought it was slightly chilly and didn't spend as much time in the water, but I thought it was wonderful and didn't want to get out.

Fun fact: the water tasted saltier than the Atlantic where I mostly swim. The nerd in me was questioning what the salinity was? Nerd alert! Nerd alert! Using a very scientific method (my brain), I hypothesized (*cough* guessed *cough* *cough*) that the salinity was around 40ppt. Guess what??!?!? When I looked it up, the salinity in the Med ranges from 38-40ppt generally! Nailed it!

Okay, back to the actually tall tale. Sorry for that side story (what, I like alliterations? Sue me...actually, please don't. I can't afford it. Plus, I'm not actually worth anything. There I go again, getting of track. Third base!)....

After spending a few hours at the beach we wandered around Nice. Here are some of the sights:

Ferrari is definitely big around here

Of course, in the wandering we just happened upon gelato and couldn't pass up the opportunity. I kept trying a couple flavors everywhere we went with one almost always being coconut. Oh. So. Good! Nathan tried a nutella gelato and that was DELICIOUS too! Full and tired we made our way back to the flat.

And another view
Once again, I was pleasantly surprised to find gnomes! Oddly, gnomes seem very popular in Europe.

To be continued...

"That's All Folks!"
