European Adventure - Day 3

Friday morning we woke up early to catch a train to La Spezia. But of course we had to start the day right with some delicious croissants. We had the option of plain or chocolate filled croissants, but really is that even a choice? Chocolate filled, of course!!!!!!!!! So yummy!

On our train to La Spezia.
We hugged the Mediterranean Sea for part of the trip.
Once in La Spezia we made our way to the AirBnB to drop off the bags. Shockingly, it was another walk-up  (most apartment building are walk-ups there). This time on the 5th floor (or something like that). Then it was back to a train station to start our tour of Cinque Terre (five lands).

Cinque Terre is comprised of five fishing villages on the Italian Riviera: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Originally, we were only going to hit 3 of the 5 villages, but we ended up going to them all. They are all tourists destinations so the trains and villages were packed, but it was definitely full of beautiful sights. It was a lot of walking, tons of stairs, and so much fun!!!!
Got to hike up, then back down these stairs.

Always ready for an adventure!

Nathan and I climbed to the top of this castle! Sadly, I didn't find my prince at the top. :( :( :(

The view from the castle

Picture perfect postcard

Another view from the castle

Waiting at another train station...we did that a lot. :)

Perfect beach weather

No matter where I go, I always marvel at God's AWESOME creation!
We ended up eating at a seafood restaurant close to this view, though only Nate and Zach actually got seafood. Megan and I had the gnocchi. So delicious!!! Though I think the best part of the place was this...
GNOMES!!!! And the seven dwarfs!

After seeing all five villages, we caught yet another train back to La Spezia and found something to eat. We went to another seafood restaurant, where the owner was SUPER nice. He made sure we had everything we needed and had us try an appetizer for free. I ended up having the seafood risotto, which was pretty good. Nathan wanted to get some pictures of Cinque Terre at night, so we dropped Megan at the AirBnB and the three of us hopped on another train (sensing a theme yet) back to Cinque Terre.

Okay, so those pictures aren't that great. However, Nathan got some really great shots of the village at night. Then it was a train back to La Spezia and the end of day 3.

To be continued....

"That's All Folks!"
